Where's My Data?
The last thing we want to have happen to you is for you to lose any of your precious Mindburn data. All your notes, folders and other information such as scheduling and review history is kept in one folder in your home "Documents", to be precise:
"~/Documents/Mindburn/Notebooks/"Ensure that you regularly back this folder up to other media.

How do I create a note right at the top of the note browser? |
New notes are generally created just below the currently selected note, to create a new note at top unselect all notes and create a new one. (You can unselect by clicking on the empty space below your notes or by holding down the Command key and selecting the currently selected note).

Can I print the chart in Mindburn? |
You can print most things in Mindburn, just select what you are interested in - browsers, tables or graphics - and print. |
Additional Preferences
The Mindburn Preferences panel normally covers most of the settings you might wish to alter. In addition there are some further less commonly used settings which with a little work are also changeable. The settings are kept in the applications user defaults which are accesible through the Terminal applicaions command line.
- Find the Terminal application in this location: "/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app".
- Double click Terminal to start it.
- Quit Mindburn.
- Enter the commands found in the following question & answer section.
(they begin with: "defaults write com.mindburn.imprint ...".) - Restart your Mindburn app if running.
How do I tone down the lens effect on the burn wheel in your inspector?: |
You can control the transparency of the burn wheel with the following setting. Note that 0 is invisible and 1 is as opaque as it gets - the default setting is 0.75.

When printing I always get the page number, date and stuff in the headers and footers, can I disable that?: |

Before a search is performed words from a "stop word" file are removed from your query. If you don't wish to use a "stop word" list disable it with the following:

Mindburn is behaving strangely, even quiting and restarting dosn't seem to fix it. |
You could try resetting all your preferences to how they were when you first installed the program. Note that this will reset all your color, font, toolbar and other preference choices. Crucially it will also wipe your application registration number putting you back in demo mode so make sure you have it to hand (copy it before hand).
Ensure ~/Documents/Mindburn/ has the correct read and write permissions . (Use the Apple Finder, get info on the file and see the permissions section near the bottom, use "Apply to All" from the Mindburn folder). Don't forget our support email address if you can't sort things out. |
