Folders for categories of notes are supported and if you change your mind you can easily change things around at will. On the other hand if you just want to create a quick note and not worry about keeping things tidy then that's perfectly fine.

The same principle applies to schedules: use the standard supplied Mindburn schedules to get going then create your own tailored to your personal memory characteristics. Once you've created your notes and specified a schedule you still have total freedom to switch to other schedules or even make changes to schedules themselves, your reviews are automatically updated so you can see the effects of changes immediately. On the subject of schedules: if you find yourself unable to review when Mindburn suggests then simply reschedule your review dates, Mindburn is there for you but you are always in control.
